Is responsible for managing the technical and financial aspects of assigned projects. The Environmental Scientist coordinates fieldwork, site visits, drilling, sample/data collection, subcontractor tasks, evaluates data and compiles written reports for submittal to clients and regulatory agencies. The person needs to be reliable (responsibilities, tardiness, following procedure, etc.) and have a good work ethic. They need to be able to cooperate with co-workers and clients and they also should be able to listen, understand and follow instructions. The person must be open to training and learning and employing the proper field practices and reporting procedures as required by regulatory guidance. They must show respect for company property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Manages Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments and other environmental projects including site inspections, soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, tank closures, and corrective actions.
Participates in routine training and quality improvement programs.
Collects detailed field notes and documentation during site activities.
Coordinates internally with project managers, technical staff, and senior management and with regulatory agencies and the client.
Writes technical reports, develops figures, and reviews laboratory analytical reports and other project related information.
Analyzes client provided reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare technical documents and reports.
Coordinates and cooperates with other internal departments on large projects.
Prepares cost estimates, proposals, and invoices.
Meets project budgets and schedules.
Follows safety procedures.
Other duties may be assigned.

Valid Drivers License
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related natural science is required. Master's Degree in one of these disciplines is preferred but not required. Five years of experience in environmental engineering and/or environmental consulting or related field of practice.
